No Scoliosis and Pneumonia is Gone

As I have mentioned in my previous post, I really felt down due to Keona's x-ray findings of scoliosis and pneumonia. When we had Keona checked by her pediatrician, he prescribed us with an antibiotic - Unasyn with a dosage of 3.5 ml /3x a day for a minimum of 10 days. On the 7th day of her taking the antibiotic, Keona underwent an X-ray as per advise by her pediatrician.

It was a thoraco-lumbar and APL x-ray to really look into the severity of her scoliosis and at the same time, to monitor her pneumonia. When I went to claim the result, I was surprised to see that there was a negative study of the scoliosis. Thankfully, Keona's pneumonia is also gone after 6 days of antibiotic.

I am really happy of the result. It turned out that the scoliosis findings on the x-ray was just an incidental finding and according to the pediatrician, it is just because of the positioning. We are really glad about it because we will not be bothered by that concern anymore.

Thanks be to God for giving us the grace and for Keona's recovery from pneumonia and the negative x-ray result of scoliosis.

A Time to Relax During Chinese New Year

I am glad we had no work today because of the Chinese New Year. Last week, I have been very busy, at work and at home etc.

It's my first time to send someone a package to another country, actually it's my close friend's Liz birthday so I had to send her a gift I personally made for her. I got to a delivery station and was a bit confuse about their Shipping Options, I'm just glad their staff is helpful enough to guide me to the process.

Lately me and hubby are thinking of getting a car since Keona will be going to school this June. We are still weighing our option for a Car Transport or a public transport. I know we can save a lot on public transport compared to owning a car, but having a car has its benefit too, especially during the busy hours it's hard to get a ride and with a car we can go fetch Keona and his nanny earlier.

Keona last week was also having a cough so we are constantly monitoring her condition even at work to see that she gets her medication on time.

Having no work today was a breather, and with Keona's cough gone, it was a great day for relaxing.

I Feel Down

My title describes what I'm feeling right now. I'm really down emotionally. Keona has had cough several days now. In fact many days already. It started even before Christmas. We had her checked and her pedia advised us to let her take bricanyl for her cough and disudrin for her colds. But both colds and cough never cease.

During our visit to her pedia, I told Dr. Mike that she might have primary complex tuberculosis because her cough is almost every other month and every time she has cough, she always takes antibiotic. This time, her pedia said that if she'll have still fever in the New Year, we would go to his clinic but Keona's fever is gone.

Our concern is her cough and it's getting severe in spite the medicine she's taking so we decided to have her undergo an X-ray. I got the X-ray result today and that what makes me feel down. Her X-ray result reveals an inflammatory lung disease compatible of a Pneumonia. Aside from that, the X-ray revealed she has scoliosis. I'm more concerned of the scoliosis because I know the inflammation in her lungs will be cured through antibiotics. Hopefully her scoliosis is not severe and it is just in relation to having her cough. Tomorrow we'll have to visit her doctor and let him know Keona's X-ray result. Hopefully, Keona's health will just be all right.

Happy New Year 2012 Friends

I just wanna greet a happy new year 2012 to everyone. The past year brought us a bitter-sweet experiences and it has been a busy year and we are still thankful for all the blessings showered on us.

Lots have happened on me last year in terms of career. I was transferred to another department at work and I thought it was a hard new assignment only to find out it was the complete opposite. It was actually a blessing in disguise. Master studies is not easy yet I was able to pull up my first semester class with high grades. For all of those blessings, I am very thankful. And for all the trials and tribulations, still I am tankful I am able to pass through them and for all the learning I have taken from them.

I have plans and goals for this year 2012 and hopefully, the good Lord will grant all my heart's desires. If he'll will not, I just pray that I'll understand his message/ reasons why.

I always pray for Keona's good health. Her urine culture and sensibility recently has a bacteria and I hope it's just in the collection and not really from he inside. We have a repeat CS and I'm gonna get it tomorrow from the laboratory. Hopefully, it is negative from the bacteria. Her kidney/urinary bladder ultrasound result is good.

December Fever

Hi folks, how's your December? Few days from now and it's gonna be already Christmas. We have a lot of activities lined up in the coming days. We'll have an institutional party on the 17th and thankfully, that would be the end of work for this year and it's gonna be a Christmas vacation already.

December 17 is also the last day of my school for the first term. I want to finish all my requirements before I go vacation so that I don't have to deal with it once I'll go back.

We are scheduled to have a party also on the 18th and it's gonna be a beach party. We'll bring with us our little Keona. She is already very excited and been talking about it most of the time:).

Welcome to the Christian World Frezel Anne

Baby Frezel Anne is the newest addition to the family. She is the daughter of my BIL Siegfred and was born the same date with Keona.

Last Saturday was her Dedication.We went to Greenhills Buffet to witness the ceremony and had a lunch there as well. Keona and her cousin Mica were having a great time playing at the venue of the dedication.

When it was finished, we headed to Gmall and had a family picture. The problem though was, Mica had already having tantrums because she was already very sleepy. When we were going home, Keona and Mica were already in their dreamland.

Today is 11-11-11. Wow, this happens only once in a blue moon and I'm happy I'm alive and well experiencing this day. hahaha. Some people believe that this day is a lucky day. Others believe it is unlucky and associate it with the Apocalypse. Whatever it is, I just hold on to my faith and leave everything to God:).

On the other hand, my little girl is bouncing healthy lately. She has recovered from her fever and cough and I'm very happy that her appetite is back. She now eats some rice and viand as long as she wants it. She also drinks a lot of milk now which is why she doesn't look very thin anymore.

She is also establishing her sleep routine nowadays. When we say sleeping time, she turns off the TV and DVD and ask hubby to turn on the music which we play while she's asleep.

Fever is Gone

Keona's fever is gone today but I really fervently pray it will not go back because if it will, she will have to undergo x-ray and it could mean inject-able antibiotic will be administered to her if infection persist in spite of the oral antibiotic she's taking now.

We will be monitoring her the whole day and hopefully she'll be in full shape when her birthday comes, that's 2 days from now.

On another note, I'm hoping I'll be able to finish all the reports I need to accomplish at work. I'm planning to have a project which I'm gonna work soon and I hope it will be a success.

Keona has Fever

When hubby and I arrived from work yesterday. Keona was still asleep in MIL's room. When she woke up, she looks tired and cried. MIL told us that she thinks Keona is having a fever because her body temperature is unusually high. I put my hand on her forehead and neck and I feel she's having a fever so we got the thermometer and it's 37.8 degree celcius. She's having a fever indeed.

I was wondering how much is the dosage for her paracetamol syrup so I called up Doctor Mike, her pediatrician. It's 5ml every 4 hours for the tempra paracetamol for she's turning 3 years old already on the 29th. I bet she's having fever because she slept very late the other night, 2:00 o'clock in the morning and she doesn't eat much. So her immune system must be very weak. Last night she requested for her favorite french fries and hamburger so hubby bought for her.

I'm glad she's not having fever now and hope it will continue to be gone...

On another note, I am glad I don't have to report for work today because I'm supposed to go to school but since it's already semestral break, I'll just stay home. It's very timely because I can take care Keona.

Last Friday, one of our colleagues invited us for a lunch so we headed to Tita D's, a buffet restaurant here in the city. It's a lunch break so many diners are already there when we arrived. We took only very few photos because taking photos is actually forbidden and we just took photos of ourselves.

The array of foods serve on that day was delectable. I especially love the fish filllet, kinilaw, mussels and cassava cake for dessert.

In connection with MIL's birthday, we went to the Garden by the Bay Restaurant last Sunday for a lunch. Troy was with his little girl Mica. My SIL who is 8-month preggy was with us as well.

After our hearty lunch, little Keona and hubby was having fun at the pool. All of us are having a good time. I was very thankful also for the oppurtunity of chit-chatting with my SIL. We rarely have time to talk because I am busy with work and whenever I'm home, my attention is on Keona.

Keona has Colds

Keona has been sneezing often lately. I noticed that she keeps on scratching her nose and she has cold. I have been medicating her with Disudrin. Hopefully, it will not go full-blown.

I don't feel good as well because I'm having dysmenorrhea. It's really tiring doing things at work but I have to. I hope everything's going back to normal and that little girl will recover soon. Have a great midweek friends:).

Happy Birthday to Me

Today is my birthday. I'm very happy to have been blessed with the gift of life and a loving family. We have a simple celebration at the office. I just bought roasted chicken, bulalo and pancit bihon for our lunch and mangoes as a fruit dessert.

At home, me and hubby bought roasted chicken too, pork liempo, pancit from Shanghai restaurant. MIL bought an ice cream for me. We eat together at dinner. I'm really contented with my life and all I wish for my birthday is good health for me and the whole family, inner peace and harmonious environment.

Thanks to all who greeted me via FB and those who sent me text messages and phone call. I really appreciate the effort and the greetings.

New Found Friend

I exposed her to many children whenever we get out from the house so that she'll know how to deal with them. She's the only little one at home and she's not used to be in the company with other children. We plan to enroll her in a playschool next year to associate herself with more children.

Laundry Time is Bonding Time

Yesterday, one of our house helpers went to their home so nobody does the laundry anymore. So to ease up MIL's work load, hubby and me decided to do laundry of our clothes and office uniforms during the evening, after our work.

Last night, the three of us - me, hubby, and Keona did the laundry and at the same time, had our evening bath. While me and hubby were busy doing the laundry, our little girl had also fun playing on the water, chasing all the bubbles she can get out of the laundry. Our household chores may have been added during the evening but it's also a great time for us to bond together since we don't have time to be with each other during morning because we always rush going to work. So our laundry time in the evening becomes our bonding time. I love it because we really do have fun:).

Loving the Holidays

Holidays and not reporting for work are one of the greatest joys of working mothers like me. Monday and Tuesday here in the Philippines is a non-working holiday. Monday is a commemoration of the National Heroes Day and Tuesday is the end of Ramadan.

Me and hubby have plenty of time to spend with our little one. We just stay home and we stock already foods to munch while we stay home longer.

On the other hand, I need to answer the part 3 of my final exams of my second term subject in my masters studies. I hope I can answer it excellently.

BIL and SIL Sieg and Ladz celebrated their 3rd wedding anniversary last August 9 and we ate out for a dinner. We went to Hukad restaurant at Abreeza mall. Foods were yummy and delicious. We ordered kinilaw, Bicol express, tuna, lechon kawali and crispy fried pata.

We were very full when we got out from the restaurant. Thanks to Seig and Lads for the treat:). More happy years together, more blessings, and hope for a bouncy little angel 3 months from now:).

Hair Follicle Infection

Last night, while putting Keona to sleep, I run my fingers through her hair. That's what I usually do to help her sleep right away. But I noticed something on her head. There's something protruding so I turned on the light and checked it. Looks like a boil. So we brought her to the pediatrician today.

It turned out, it was an infection of the hair follicle. We also showed her burn from the iron on her arm. Doc Mike prescribed us with Fuskina ointment to be applied on affected area 2-3 times a day and an antibacterial medicine to prevent the infection from spreading. I just hope the infection will get away soon.

Family Bonding

It's been quite long since hubby and me have brought Keona out for a stroll. We have been busy lately for some priorities and time adjustments and so last weekend, we decided to bond together with our little girl. We first had our lunch at Jollibee then off we went to SM City to witness the cyber expo there. Unfortunately, the crowd are so huge that we were not able to really get closer to the stage at the event center and so we just roam around the mall. Keona had fun playing on the toy car display and the salesperson assigned in the area was so kind to let Keona play with it. We then chose clothes for her and we were able to buy one.

On our way home, we dropped by a restaurant and eat there. It was not a peak hour so Keona was very carefree roaming around the place as if it's hers.hehehe

Done my First Trimester Subject

As I have mentioned in my earlier posts, I have been schooling this semester to pursue my graduate studies. We only get to meet 5 Saturdays with our professor and the last meeting we have was last Saturday since it's a trimester. Paperworks, reports and case analysis really made me busy plus taking care of Keona who is having cough.

I'm very happy that I'm done with my first subject but I'm bracing my self for the next one, Statistics. Dealing with numbers has been my waterloo ever since. So I'm gonna start reading about my incoming subject.

Fever and Cough

We were very happy playing with the shower last Saturday night. Keona was full of vigor playing with the water. When we were already settled and were about to sleep, I noticed that Keona's body temperature is unusually high. I got the thermometer and checked her body temp and indeed, I was right with my suspicion. She's having a mild fever, 37.5 degree celscius.

She was having cough as well which I suspect could be the cause of her mild fever. We brought her to Doctor Mike's clinic yesterday and she was in the mood. She said 'hi" to Doc Mike and she's very well behaved when her doctor checked her physically. She even played the toys in doc Mike's clinic.

Doc Mike prescribed her an antibiotic because she's having a lot of phlegm. I bought (Amoclav)-Co-amoxiclav and has to be taken 2x/day with a dosage of 3.5 ml. We have to let her take also Bricanyl expectorant with the dosage 3.5 ml, 3x a day. If there's fever, we just let her take Tempra paracetamol drops, 1.5 ml, every four hours.

I think the erratic weather and her being a late sleeper are the cause of these. I myself is having cough but not that really severe. I'm just taking Ascof (Lagundi) medicine so that I'll be cured. I hope everything will turn back to normal soon and my little girl will recover from her cough because she's having a hard time sleeping during the night.

Really Busy

I am really busy this past few days. I seldom have the time to blog and I dislike it. I miss visiting my fave blogs in the blogosphere. My time is occupied with work, taking care of my little sweetheart, schooling and a lot of reports and researches to do.

It's hard to go back to school when you are already getting old like me:).LOLz. But really, no pain, no gain. No guts, no glory. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish graduate school which is what I'm aiming now.

On New PR and St. Peter Feast

Yesterday, I was surprised that the green color of the PR add-on for my Mozilla Firefox is just small. I wondered if it was real so I refreshed the page of my travel blog Davao Delights but it is still PR 2. I checked on pr checker and it has indeed gone down from PR 3 to PR2. I then checked my other blogs and this blog has also gone down from PR4 to PR2. All of my blogs' page rank have gone down. A little sad but not really so much of a big deal:).

On another note, today is a non-working holiday for us in our company in connection with the celebration of the Saint Peter Feast. Hooray for that:). I have so many tasks in a row, process my papers and go to PRC for my professional license. Go the the laboratory and submit urine sample for Keona's urine CS. Do some groceries and buy Keona's milk and some of our personal needs.

Colds, Please Go Away

Keona has been having colds since yesterday. My MIL called me up and asked if I have medicine stored in the cabinet for Keona's colds. I cannot remember exactly what are the medicines left in our cabinet because I already disposed those that have expired and can't be used anymore. I just told her to try to look if there is still available and she found a Disudrin in the cabinet. We just followed the dosage when Keona has her colds months ago.

I bet Keona's immune system is weak that's why she's having colds. She sleeps very late during the night because she's always glued on her DVD, dancing and mimicking whatever she sees on screen. Aside from that, weather these past few days is not really that good. It's hot during the day but it rains during the afternoon or night.

Hopefully, her colds will go away soon because we have a scheduled urine culture and sensitivity by the end of this month and I don't want to collect urine sample from her while she's on medication or when she's not in excellent health.

Keona has been very active lately that she wanted us to dance with her while her videos are playing on DVD. She also sleep very late at night that I sleep late as well. The result? I'm still very sleepy and feeling dizzy. I'm not yet revitalized from few hours of sleep.

The weather adds to my sleepiness as well. It's cold and there's a hint that's gonna rain. This kind of weather really makes me lazy. Nevertheless, I have to go on with life and work. Have a great day friends:).

Baby Feeding Utensils and Gifts

When our little sweetheart started to eat, we were really very happy and excited to feed her. The joy of seeing that cute little mouth open up and take a bite of food brings us immense joy. Yes, as parents see a milestone in their baby's lives, it feels like an achievement in every stage of development that every child has to go through. It's calls for a celebration of some sorts and we parents don't wanna miss it and will always want to cherish it forever.

First thing that we wanna provide for our child when she started eating solid foods are the utensils. We want them in high quality and fitted for our baby. Me and hubby right away started looking for baby utensils when our little Keona started eating. We looked for something beautiful and interesting to look at for our baby. We also wanted it colorful and have a fun shape that would entice our baby to eat well because we want to develop good eating habits for our baby and I have read somewhere that the best time to train a baby to eat properly is when he/she is young and just starting to eat. My MIL told us that sterling silver baby cups and sterling silver baby spoons are very good baby utensils. I, myself prefers something silver rather that baby utensils made from plastic.

Meeting with my college friends who are now also mothers make me also learn a lot of things. When we meet each other, we always talk about our baby's developments and their '"talents" since our babies are just two months apart. My best friend Marianne has just recently given a birthday party for her eldest Rhionne's 3rd birthday and the Christening for her second child Rhys. It's in that party that we meet with Pinky, another classmate way back in college. Her child will be celebrating her birthday as well in two months time. I have been thinking of what gift I will give for her little darling. Browsing for gifts online makes it easier. Sterling silver baby gifts would be perfect for Pinky's daughter.

When I was younger, I never think about saving or investing. I right away landed a job when I graduated college and all my salary goes to escapades, gimmicks, disco, eating out and bonding with friends. I was having a good time as a yuppie.

When I got married, everything changed. I have to budget to meet everything my family needs. All my expenses for the whole month are listed down and I see to it that I still have money until the next payday. I become very interested with financial literacy that I read every book I encounter about finances, financial planning and financial freedom. I have been reading a lot about online investing. I'm also trying to learn the ropes of online stock trading although I don't invest on it yet because I still feel I don't have adequate knowledge dealing with that kind of thing. I'm happy that we are about to get finished paying off our debt which I think is very necessary so we can concentrate on growing our savings and we can invest our money.

Proudmom is Officially Enrolled

June is the start of the school year here in the Philippines and I have decided to pursue graduate studies. The other day, I enrolled in University of Mindanao and on the 18th, we'll have our first meeting, an orientation since I'm just a freshmen.

I hope our professor will not be very hard on us because I have Statistics subject and I'm very poor in mathematics and Statistics or anything that has something to do with numbers:). I try very hard to juggle my full-time work, graduate studies, being a Mom and a wife and my blogging world.

It's a beautiful Sunday and I love Sundays. I just stayed home in the morning cleaning and playing with little girl Keona. In the afternoon, Keona did not sleep so we went to the church to attend mass at 4 pm. Keona can't really stay put inside the church. She plays in the kneeler and she plays MIL's bracelets.

I can't let her be with hubby for a long time because she might get the colds that hubby has. The best part when going to a Sunday afternoon mass is the snack.LOLz. We had our snacks again at Jollibee and little Keona did not even tasted the hamburger bought for her because she prefers her fave French fries.

I have not updated this blog for a long time. I have been on vacation for one week and I have been enjoying it a lot. To make the best out of my vacation, I decided to slowdown on my online world to spend quality time with my family which I rarely do being a full-time working mom.

We went malling while I was on vacation, play and watch learning videos on DVD for Keona and stroll in the neighborhood most afternoons.

Shopping for a Dress

We noticed that Keona is rapidly getting taller lately. Most of her dresses become a "mini" dress already because she outgrow most of them. So hubby and me together with Keona went malling last weekend. We look for clothes and we fit any dress that attract her.

Have you seen the hit TV series Grey's Anatomy? I really love this series, especially since there is Patrick Demsey and Katherine Heigl, she's really beautiful. I have been a fan of Heigl since I saw her first in Prince Valiant. In Grey's Anatomy, she plays the part of Dr. Izzie Stevens. I like her wearing those scrub uniform in the series, with her beauty and sexy body she's a real fit in that outfit.

I have been searching online for some scrubs that look exactly the same as theirs to buy online, and also the fabric must also be of high quality, If I'm gonna buy online I want it to be the best. Keona's Rashes are Gone

I'm happy that after a long while, Keona's rashes are altogether gone. We went back to her pediatrician the other week for she was having colds and her rashes was not yet cured. We found out later that grandpa gave her an ice cream cone coated with chocolates and that was the culprit of her rashes.

Dr. Mike gave us a presciption of Desowen Lotion. We bought it and it's a little pricey. We applied the lotion on her rashes and thankfully, it works, plus of course, not eating foods that Dr. Mike prohibited her.

Sports Wear for my Baby Girl

Hubby is a sports fanatic, and he basically loves basketball and would always watch every game that is televised on the cable. Since its the month of April he's almost always glued to the TV for the NBA playoff. He also likes wearing some of his favorite teams jersey and even teams that are not his favorite. Sometime hubby and Keona would tussle for the remote control because Keona wants to watch Nickelodeon. In the end though Keona always win in this battle hahaha.

But now he has another sports that is beginning to catch his interest, and that is American football, I think he just got interested in this sport because he likes watching the anime series Eyeshield 21, and to top all of this, he found a shop online for baby that offers sports clothing. Just for the fun of it, he wants to buy Keona one and said she will be a Steelers Baby and bursts out in laughter. He may not be a steelers fan though, but he just like the color combination of the clothing. I think Keona would also like it, she also likes to wear different design of clothes, as long as shes comfortable with it, its fine with me.

I believe Keona would love to wear Steelers baby apparel because they are really nice apparels and their colors are brilliant. Colors like red, orange, and yellow would especially look good on her with her fair complexion. My little girl is a big fan of fashion and she would surely love what hubby is planning to buy for her.

My Summer 2011 Retreat

As I have mentioned in my earlier post, I went to a spiritual retreat a week before the Holy Week. It was a very fruitful retreat and I especially like the place because it is very serene and away from the crowd of city life. It was indeed a retreat in every sense of the word.

The retreat was held in the Transfiguration Monastery of the Benedictine Monks who owned a 100-hectare farm land planted with rice, corn, peanuts and coffee. They also owned several animals like cows goats roaming around in the sprawling 100-hectare land. So we were really in commune with nature, so to speak.

I also love the food. They prepared great yummy foods with really nice variations and the taste was perfect. I especially like their pork adobo and chicken tocino.

The big transfiguration monastery church is gorgeously situated in an elevated area where you see the vast mountains and plains. The design is like a pyramid and flowers around are nicely arranged complimenting the beautiful church.

Back from a 4-Day Retreat

I'm now back from my 4-day retreat in the beautiful and idyllic mountains of Bukidnon where the Monastery of Benidictine Monks hosted us. We were facilitated by a very articulate and excellent retreat master, Fr. Elias Serra, a Benedictine Monk.

The 5-hour bus ride going to my place, Davao, really makes me tired. So I have to relax and rejuvenate. I'll be sharing photos later. Have a great start of the week friends.

A Personalized Gift for Troy

My brother in law Troy will be celebrating his birthday in April 14 but the problem is, I can't attend his birthday since my company retreat is also at April 14. So I'm planning to buy him a gift and give it to him once my retreat is finished. I have tried searching at malls for a unique gift but can't find one. So the next best thing to do is go online, and boy I found a great site that I like, the site is Amsterdam Printing. They have some great items to choose from and the price is not that high. One item that I like is the personalized pencils, I think this would be a great gift for Troy since his a bank teller and this nice looking pencil is just a handy dandy for a teller.

By the way, I'm trying to learn about real estate marketing since I'm planning to put up a site on this niche. It's a big challenge for me since it's really way out of my comfort zone. Wish me luck on this endeavor friends:)

Holiday and a Bonding with Angels

Tomorrow is a national holiday in celebration for the "Araw ng Kagitingan". As planned, we'll be going to one of our working student's house and we'll bond together there. We'll just cook our foods then we'll have fun chit-chatting and singing.

Hubby on the other hand will have his tooth extracted so he'll go to his dentist. He will just wait for me in downtown area and we'll go back home together. It's a nice weekend. Have a great day friends:).

Feeling Sleepy

I believe I have not yet fully recovered my lack of sleep for three consecutive nights because there was no water. I'm used to taking bath before going to bed so I have to wait until water gets back because we have no stored water in the pail or whatever container we have since we have not prepared with that water interruption..

I am able to sleep only during midnight or even past midnight. Today, I still feel very sleepy and I lack the energy to work on my tasks that's supposed to be done. I need my vitality back:). Anyways, have a great day friends:).

A Visit to Keona's Pediatric Nephrologist and Surgeon

Yesterday, we brought Keona to her pediatrician-nephrologist to have her rashes checked. I have been self-medicating her with antihistamines for her rashes is back since she eat a lot of peanuts and chocolates. Doctor Mike added a medication that would heal her itchiness so she'll not scratch it often. He also gave an ointment to apply on affected areas during the night.

The clinic of Keona's surgeon is located at the 9th floor of the medical tower building so we just check if he's around. That visit should have been done last December but the surgeon was on vacation. We have had several visits again but he was not around. He is a super-duper busy pediatric surgeon. Fortunately, he was around yesterday and I had with me the renal scan result of Keona. He was happy with Keona's renal scan result. It showed the physiological functions of her kidneys and everything's really good except that her left kidney functions a little faster than the right which doctor Mike said, will still improve because she's just a little child.

The visit was great because it was the first time that Keona did not cry. We told her not to cry because the doctors will just check her rashes. Hubby instructed her to say hi/hello and show her rashes. She just did as instructed. Upon seeing Doctor Mike, she said "hi" to which Doctor Mike replied "Hello" with a big smile. She then move closer to Doctor Mike and showed her rashes on her shoulders. She said " thank you" when Doctor Mike handed me the ointment. All in all, it was a nice visit to the doctors:). I just hope Keona's rashes will be gone soon.

Transport Strike

Today, we don't report for work because there's a transport strike going on. Public utility vehicles are on protests of the increase of pumping price of gasoline. They want it rolled back.

"We don't take chances reporting for work when we are not sure of the transportation. So we just stay home and I do some household chores since the house help goes to their province. Have a nice day friends.

I got a plaque of appreciation from my company this morning for rendering 10 years of service now. I got also a little monetary funds as an appreciation to my valuable service to the company I have worked for. I brought with me Keona and hubby during the ceremony then we went to the mall for a lunch.

Keona's choice for restaurant is Chowking so it's there that we had our lunch. I had fish fillet lauriat while hubby had a chicken lauriat. Keona had her fave beef wanton noodles soup. After eating, Keona had a blast at the kid's play area riding anything she wants.

Making Demands

As Keona gets older and develop a taste of her fave foods, she now know how to make demands or shall I say requests. She would make plans on her own telling me that we'll go to this and that:). Her all-time favorite are Jollibbee, McDonalds and Chowking. She loves the choco sundae at Jollibee, the hamburger and French fries at Mcdonalds, and the wanton noodle soup at Chowking. So whenever we are out, we have to prepare a budget for all these things:).

Hubby is having an Allergy

When we had a check-up yesterday with hubby's eyes, it was found out that he's not having sore eyes but an allergy. There's a component of the medicine he took yesterday that made his eyes red, itchy and bulging. So he'll just take antihistamine tablet.

My OB-gyne's clinic is located in the same hospital and when I saw my doctor, she made a big smile, I just said Hi and Hello and told her I will have a pap smear next time. But she said we'll do the test and I just agreed. Anyways, I have long been planning to undergo such test. The result will be on Friday. So, I'll just wait for it.

Check up for Hubby's eyes

My hubby's eyes has been itchy and its red. So we are gonna go to an E-N-T doctor to have it checked. We don't know if it's sore eyes or just an allergic reaction to a medicine he took for muscle pain because he's having a stiff neck. Hope everything will just be okay.

How's my Child's Development?

Today I try to visit my account on babycenter to know how my little girl is growing. I registered an account on babycenter when I was only few weeks pregnant to keep track of my baby's development inside my womb.

What the babycenter tells about my baby's development at her age now is indeed true. Here it is...

"Your child is more in control of her movements. Now she can play with small objects easily and stack (not just knock over) towers of blocks. She can also concentrate for slightly longer periods of time, as much as 20 minutes if she's deeply engaged. Sometimes she'll become so absorbed in playing that she'll resent your interruption. You can make transitions easier by warning her in advance, as in, "You can play with the blocks for five more minutes, but then it's dinnertime." If you have a flexible schedule, you may want to give her a few warnings before you insist that she finish up her play."

Playing and Running

That's what Keona keeps on doing when we are at home. She's so full of energy that she keeps on running a lot. Whenever we are at home, we have to play with her as well because she wants us to.

Play is very important especially with her age now. Through play, she'll learn a lot of things. I have read also in a newspaper article that playing increases a child's IQ.

No Work Again

There's no official memo yet but a personnel from the Human Resource Department mentioned there's no work this coming Wednesday in connection with the local celebration in our place. I'm very happy because this can be a time for me to bring Keona to her surgeon for a check-up.

I still have to call Dr. Aquino's clicnic if he's available by Wednesday. It's been a long time already that we have not strolled out with Keona so we might also bring her to play area in the mall.

Learning to Read

The other night, while me and hubby were busy chit-chatting, Keona was also busy scanning her books and learning to identify letters in the alphabet. I get amused when I see her doing this.

Grocery Time

I have checked all things that Keona needed yesterday. Since it's a weekend, we are scheduled to buy things. I am gonna buy her milk though she still have 1 can stored in our cupboard. I always make a reserve so that I will have no problem in times that her milk is unavailable in stores.

I'm thinking also of bringing her to her surgeon's clinic next week. for a routine check-up. If I'll get the time, that is, because we will be very busy at work next week.

Whew! I can't believe how time flies really fast. I got a letter today from the President's office telling me that I'm turning ten years in service by end of March with the company I presently work. They ask me to join a ceremony by the end of March so I'm gonna prepare for it.

The letter made me nostalgic of who I am 10 years back. LOLz. I was very idealistic, carefree and my line of thinking was different than today. hehehe. I mean, I have no concerns before. All I think was myself, gimmicks, escapades, friends and my family. But now, my top priority is my family. Every decision I make, my family takes first into consideration.

Watching Keona's Videos on TV

It's really nice to experience your child's development as she grows from being the cute cuddly baby to this full of energy big girl. Keona is growing and with the technology today, if you have a video cam or digicam recording these precious moments is just a click away. Most of my files are in my laptop, photos and videos all together.

Sometimes we would watch Keona's video on my laptop, but hubby is just not satisfied by watching it on my laptop, he wants to watch in on our big TV. Luckily my laptop can be connected to our TV via a DVI cable. I leave it to hubby to set things up. Listening to him in explaining about connecting this cable to a HDMI TV cables and using VGA cable to this and that makes my head about to explode. So I usually insist he do it himself:). When he's all done, watching the videos through our TV is much better than on my laptop.

Ash Wednesday

We are off to a holy mass today since it's Ash Wednesday. I have seen people with ashes placed on their forehead and I remember it's Ash Wednesday. I have also seen students clad in their white gala uniform going to the mass.

As I have mentioned in my earlier post, two of my office mates are gonna celebrate their birthdays this week. So yesterday was the birthday of the other one. I ate lunch with them. Yummy pancit, kare-kare, lumpia shanghai were served. There was also the roasted chicken but I did not eat it to avoid allergy.

Today is the birthday of the other one. She told me already to have my lunch in their office. I donnu yet what she'll gonna serve. Freebies are always a delight:). To my officemates C and V, happy birthday to both of you. More blessings to come:)

New Way of Learning the Alphabet

Keona has started already learning to identify the letters in the alphabet. Grandma acted as her tutor and she can now identify the vowel letters. She could not identify yet the consonants since there are many. Now that she gets older, she become really fond of playing and she seems to get bored already with her flash cards.

Yesterday, my office mate introduced me a site which she used during the time when she was a tutor to preschool pupils. I look at the website and it's really nice. It's starfall.com and it's very fitted for Keona.

When I reached home, after doing my online tasks, I let her look at the website and she was really glued on it. She follows the sounds and pronunciations and her interest is being kept because it's an audio-visual presentation. I hope Keona will learn the alphabet soon trough this website.

On Gift Giving

It has been always a practice in our department that we give something as a keepsake to whoever is celebrating a birthday. It can be anything simple or a bouquet of fresh flowers will do. With the skyrocketing prices of economic goods nowadays, I always look for promotional items so that I'll be able to save.

Two of my office mates are going to celebrate their birthdays next week. I'm looking for something I can give to them. I've seen promotional mugs online and I'm considering on giving it to one since one of the birthday celebrator loves collecting mugs.

I'm also thinking of buying anything and will just put personalized printing on it and give it to the other birthday celebrant. I got this idea from Amsterdam Printing and it's nice because it somehow gives a personal touch to my gift.

Lovely Weekend

Weekends are always my favorite part of the week. No work, no hassles, no traffic and I can just laze around without monitoring the time.

Grandpa invited us for a lunch today and we do not know yet where he will gonna treat us for a lunch. Surely, we'll have a yummy lunch. Have a great weekend friends:)

1. If you have pets, do you see them as merely animals, or are they members of your family?

-Pets are pets and I love them but they are not my family who are humans.

2. If you can have a dream to come true, what would it be?

-Personally, to be financially free and that I don't need to be away from my daughter to be able to put food on the table. Socially, I dream that everyone live in harmony in diversity.

3. What is the one thing most hated by you?

-Backstabbers and people who are fake, pretenders.

4. What would you do with a billion dollars?

Secure the future by putting something on the trust fund, give a portion to charity and travel around the world.

5. What helps to pull you out of a bad mood?

My daughter

6. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone?

I think both are blessed.

7. What is your bedtime routine?

-Take a bath, put on some oil and lotion,say a prayer and off to my dreamland

-I meet my partner at work.

My mother-in-law and hubby.

-Romance and self-help books

Probably a work-at-home mom.

-I would. I'm not really much into junk foods.

-I'd rather be married and poor. I'm currently married and very much happy. Money can't buy happiness.

-Thank God for the new day and that I still able to wake up.

16. If you could change one thing about your spouse/partner what would it be?

There's nothing to change in him. I have accepted all of his strengths and weaknesses before I decided marrying him.

As Keona gets older, she is becoming more sociable as well. She accompanied Mom to PS bank yesterday and Mom told me that she keeps on saying Hi and Hello to the personnel in the bank. So the personnel were also very amused with her.

When it was time for them to go, she bid goodbye to the man who is a teller. Since the man was talking to the phone, he did not mind Keona waving him. Keona did not stop waving until the man responded her, waving as well.

Keona loves to dance. She follows the dance moves of the characters she see on Nickelodeon. When I was out at the back of the house doing some household chores, she dances on the pole and hubby got fascinated by her. So, he right away got the camera...

Teaching Keona how to Save

As early as now, we are already teaching Keona how to save. It is said that the best thing to teach a child is when she is still young because their minds are blank tablets. They are easy to teach and whatever you teach them will be inculcated in their minds right away.

Being an only child and first grandchild in my hubby's side, she has the tendency to become spoiled specially with grandpa. Grandpa gives her whatever she wants but I balance it with teaching her the right values as early as now. I would tell her that she can't have everything she wants because I don't want her to grow up bratty.

Going back to savings, Keona loves to put on coins on her piggy bank. She would ask grannies for coins or sometimes from me and hubby. Mom told us to deposit her money from her piggy bank to the bank because there's a kiddie savings account in Metrobank where grandma used to work. We opened her piggy bank and grandma said she'll just add whatever Keona had saved so that it will reach to 500 pesos, the minimum amount required for the kiddie savings.

Mandarin Tea Garden is one of my fave restaurants here in my place. These photos were taken during our last visit to Keona's pediatrician. I ordered fish fillet while hubby had his beef wanton rice toppings.

Keona loves French fries very much so hubby bought French fries in a nearby McDonalds outlet and brought it to us.

Death is one of my most dreaded topics when I was younger. As time goes by and I believe I have matured as well, I started to realize death is inevitable and that it is one thing that everyone should be prepared of. We do not know when our call time is so we better prepare ourselves and leave good footprints here on earth. That's why, it is very important to have Burial Insurance.

Let's face it, death is also really costly. When my father died 4 years ago, we didn't have a hard time in terms of finances because my Mom had a seniors funeral insurance. That's what I admire most with my mother. She's very proactive.

My father was bed-ridden for 2 years. Having somebody needing medical attention can be really draining financially, so it is very important to have health resource for seniors to avoid being broke when illness come.
