Whoever you do decide on, you need to have a serious discussion with them first, and need to get their agreement before naming them as your child’s legal guardian in your will.

Another very good idea is to make arrangements for your funeral in the event that you die. Not only will this ensure that you get the type of funeral that you want, it will also make sure that the cost of this does not come out of insurance money that should be used to look after your children. It also allows you to control the amount of money spent on your funeral, as grieving families often overcompensate by spending too much. Finally, you need to think about who is going to look after your property until your children are old enough to take charge of it themselves – this person is known as your property manager. You can choose your child’s guardian, but you also have the option of naming someone else in your will to carry out this duty. If you do this, your child’s guardian will still bring up your children, but the property manager will look after your estate on their behalf. It is also important to avoid leaving your assets directly to your children, since if you do this the courts will assign a property manager anyway – and you will have no control over who this is.

 

Getting Ready for our Exit on Earth

Death is one of my most dreaded topics when I was younger. As time goes by and I believe I have matured as well, I started to realize death is inevitable and that it is one thing that everyone should be prepared of. We do not know when our call time is so we better prepare ourselves and leave good footprints here on earth. That's why, it is very important to have Burial Insurance.

My childhood memories on All Saints Day and All Souls Day

When I was young, I have lots of memories on All Saints Day which happens every 1st of November. This is a time of the year, that we, as young children would have lots of fun because our cousins and relatives from other places would go home. There would be lots of foods cooked, usually native delicacies- suman(made of rice wrapped in banana leaf), bebingka (rice cake), biko, boiled native chicken. In the evening, my Pappa and Momma would prepare food and put it in the altar. These traditions are influences from my grandma during that time. Being a young child and curious that I was, I would ask questions to my father...

Me: Pappa, why would we place foods in the altar?

Pappa:(looking hard up in answering my question) The souls of our departed loved ones will eat food during this time...

Me: Oh, how would they eat foods when they are already dead?

Pappa: My child, they have souls, they will not eat the food, like we do, but they will smell the aroma of the food that we are offering in the altar.

These are traditions the we have lost as time goes by. When my grandma died when I was 14 years old, traditional practices that we got from her gradually died a natural death.

When the All Souls Day come, lots of people visit to our place because our house in the province is just a stone's throw away from the cemetery. This is the day when people would flock and visit their dead loved ones, light a candle on their tombs and offer prayer.
