Eating Out with Family at Gerry's Grill

Bonding with one's family is very important.  It makes your relationship with each other stronger and it makes you get closer with one another.  One of the best ways to bond with your family is to dine out.  Sometimes, we need to indulge and dine out at a favorite restaurant just to chill out and enjoy that precious moment with your loved ones.

Hubby and little girl

Little girl scans the menu

Lil girl's fave - pork liempo

My fave - grilled tuna belly

One fine day, me and hubby felt bored just staying at home.  We thought of going out and we headed to Abreeza mall to check on restaurants that serve our favorite foods.  Our toes brought us to Gerry's Grill restaurant.  The fact that the place is not crowded is really a huge advantage.  It took us not too long to wait for our orders to be served.

Guys, if you feel like chilling out and bonding with your family, don't hesitate to indulge and go to your fave restaurant and eat out.  As long as it is not becoming a routine for you, it's all right to spend some bucks dining out.  It surely is worth it.

Having Fun at Abreeza Mall

Grandpa and grandma celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary the other day and they invited us for dinner. We ate out at mandarin Tea Garden and little girl had fun testing the phones on display in a store.

Food Trip at Mandarin

Mandarin Tea Garden is one of my fave restaurants here in my place. These photos were taken during our last visit to Keona's pediatrician. I ordered fish fillet while hubby had his beef wanton rice toppings.

Keona loves French fries very much so hubby bought French fries in a nearby McDonalds outlet and brought it to us.

Too Yummy to Resist

When Keona saw the house helper opening the fridge yesterday, she right away ran towards her and looked what was inside. When she saw the box containing the chocolate rebel bars she right away got one sliced and popped it on her mouth.

I was not able to do anything to protest her but just looked the way how she ate the chocolate with gusto. The result? She's scratching here and there because her allergy is back. At least, I now know that it's really an allergy so it will not be mistaken as skin disease like what I used to think it is.

Pediatrician Visit due to Rashes

We visited doc Mike yesterday because Keona has rashes. It's been about 2 weeks already that she has it and I have been putting self medication on it. I have observed it does not improve and instead spread on her body so before we'll gonna go back to work, we decided to have her checked by her pediatrician.

My instinct were indeed true. She is indeed a food allergy like me. So Doc Mike prohibited her from eating chicken, egg, chocolate, shrimp, crab, and all kinds of nuts. We eat a lot of this especially during the Christmas season. We have a stock of chocolates also as well as peanuts and now I'm keeping all of them so she'll not eat them.

Doctor Mike prescribed antihistamine medicines- allerkid, one times a day before bedtime-2.5 ml. and iterax 3x/day 2.5 ml.

After the check up and shedding so many tears (she cries a lot every time we go to Doc Mike's clinic), we brought her to children's play area in the mall. There were very few people so we like it very much. Not much crowd and we can just hop from one ride to another anytime we want.

Loving that spicy soup

Hubby and I love spicy foods. We love that hot and spicy chicken from KFC and Jollibee, we like our pizza from Greenwhich filled with hot sauce, we love to put on hot chili on our sauce. And yes, whenever me and hubby go to our house in Mintal, we are usually busy and our schedule is full packed with cleaning, dusting, repairing so we don't have anymore time to cook food for ourselves. And our fave food? Hot spicy beef soup which just a text away and our order will arrived to us after 15 minutes together with 4 cups of rice.

Election Day is family day

It's election day, so there's no work. We went to our polling precincts at around 10 o'clock in the morning. We brought with us our lil girl for Grandpa suggested that we'll eat out after we'll have casted our vote. The precinct is so full since several precincts were fused into one due to the computerization. Only grandpa was able to vote right away because he's already 60 years old. The perks of a senior citizen:). The priority numbers being served are still in 102 and we were 220 and up, so we decided to take our lunch first or else we'll starve waiting for our turn to vote.

We went to Maryknoll resort and had our lunch there. Grandpa ordered kinilaw (hubby's fave), Mongolian spare ribs, lechon kawali, chicken barbecue. We tried to have lil girl walk through the sand but it's not that very clean so we decided to let her try in the swimming pool. There, she enjoyed very much. Too bad, we were not able to bring our camera for documentation:). We'll try to visit again the place next time since it's just near to us. The election day turned out to be a fun family day for us. After that, we go back to our polling precincts and vote.

Nice kitchenware and flatware

My mom loves to cook. I can say that she's really a pro in the kitchen. From delicious viands to yummy desserts, name it, she can cook it:). I especially like her chocolate rebel bars, food for the gods, pineapple bars and fruit cake. She spends countless hours in the kitchen especially when there are special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries and feasts. She also loves to learn new menus and recipes and whenever she has time, she would surf the net and check on what's featured on Yahoo! food.

Since Troy's wedding is fast approaching, and a lot of relatives are coming to the house, that means a lot of cooking for her. Mom wants to have a new set of flatware and she likes the stainless steel flatware she found on the net. Oh, did I mention that she's also very particular with neatness, cleanliness and beauty? She wants everything spic and span and really likes beautiful utensils! She told me that she needs to add the kitchenware, aside from what she already has, and the dinnerware for her growing family. Yeah, we are literally expanding and becoming many in the family. Therese, Troy's wife and Michaella, their little princess are the newest addition. Looking forward to meeting our relatives and I'm already excited for Troy's wedding.

Happy birthday pappa!

Today is hubby's birthday. Momma have made already her fruit salad and we'll just gonna order foods for dinner later to have a simple birthday celebration. Here are the things I love about Pappa.

  • He's patient. He is very patient about me, especially when I'm not in the mood.LOL
  • He gives in right away with my requests, may it be request to buy forgotten grocery items, anything...
  • He wakes up to change Keona's diapers during the night
  • He loves to eat - and that makes me eat a lot too. Why I liked it? Because I'm striving to gain some more weight.hehe. But Pappa, you should not eat too much, Okay? LOL

Happy birthday pappa and I love you very much! I may not be very expressive....and sorry for my tantrums sometimes...LOL. I'll strive to be the best...

P.S. I have a gift for you...surprise! I'll just give it to you when I get home.

My childhood memories on All Saints Day and All Souls Day

When I was young, I have lots of memories on All Saints Day which happens every 1st of November. This is a time of the year, that we, as young children would have lots of fun because our cousins and relatives from other places would go home. There would be lots of foods cooked, usually native delicacies- suman(made of rice wrapped in banana leaf), bebingka (rice cake), biko, boiled native chicken. In the evening, my Pappa and Momma would prepare food and put it in the altar. These traditions are influences from my grandma during that time. Being a young child and curious that I was, I would ask questions to my father...

Me: Pappa, why would we place foods in the altar?

Pappa:(looking hard up in answering my question) The souls of our departed loved ones will eat food during this time...

Me: Oh, how would they eat foods when they are already dead?

Pappa: My child, they have souls, they will not eat the food, like we do, but they will smell the aroma of the food that we are offering in the altar.

These are traditions the we have lost as time goes by. When my grandma died when I was 14 years old, traditional practices that we got from her gradually died a natural death.

When the All Souls Day come, lots of people visit to our place because our house in the province is just a stone's throw away from the cemetery. This is the day when people would flock and visit their dead loved ones, light a candle on their tombs and offer prayer.
