Financial Planning and Investing

When I was younger, I never think about saving or investing. I right away landed a job when I graduated college and all my salary goes to escapades, gimmicks, disco, eating out and bonding with friends. I was having a good time as a yuppie.

When I got married, everything changed. I have to budget to meet everything my family needs. All my expenses for the whole month are listed down and I see to it that I still have money until the next payday. I become very interested with financial literacy that I read every book I encounter about finances, financial planning and financial freedom. I have been reading a lot about online investing. I'm also trying to learn the ropes of online stock trading although I don't invest on it yet because I still feel I don't have adequate knowledge dealing with that kind of thing. I'm happy that we are about to get finished paying off our debt which I think is very necessary so we can concentrate on growing our savings and we can invest our money.

Grandpa and grandma celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary the other day and they invited us for dinner. We ate out at mandarin Tea Garden and little girl had fun testing the phones on display in a store.

Keona's Rashes are Gone

I'm happy that after a long while, Keona's rashes are altogether gone.  We went back to her pediatrician the other week for she was having colds and her rashes was not yet cured.  We found out later that grandpa gave her an ice cream cone coated with chocolates and that was the culprit of her rashes.

Dr. Mike gave us a presciption of Desowen Lotion.  We bought it and it's a little pricey.  We applied the lotion on her rashes and thankfully, it works, plus of course, not eating foods that Dr. Mike prohibited her.

Feeling Sleepy

I believe I have not yet fully recovered my lack of sleep for three consecutive nights because there was no water.  I'm used to taking bath before going to bed so I have to wait until water gets back because we have no stored water in the pail or whatever container we have since we have not prepared with that water interruption..

I am able to sleep only during midnight or even past midnight. Today, I still feel very sleepy and I lack the energy to work on my tasks that's supposed to be done.  I need my vitality back:).  Anyways, have a great day friends:).

Making Demands

As Keona gets older and develop a taste of her fave foods, she now know how to make demands or shall I say requests.  She would make plans on her own telling me that we'll go to this and that:).  Her all-time favorite are Jollibbee, McDonalds and Chowking.  She loves the choco sundae at Jollibee, the hamburger and French fries at Mcdonalds, and the wanton noodle soup at Chowking.  So whenever we are out, we have to prepare a budget for all these things:).

Lovely Weekend

Weekends are always my favorite part of the week. No work, no hassles, no traffic and I can just laze around without monitoring the time.

Grandpa invited us for a lunch today and we do not know yet where he will gonna treat us for a lunch. Surely, we'll have a yummy lunch. Have a great weekend friends:)

Sociable

As Keona gets older, she is becoming more sociable as well. She accompanied Mom to PS bank yesterday and Mom told me that she keeps on saying Hi and Hello to the personnel in the bank. So the personnel were also very amused with her.

When it was time for them to go, she bid goodbye to the man who is a teller. Since the man was talking to the phone, he did not mind Keona waving him. Keona did not stop waving until the man responded her, waving as well.

Teaching Keona how to Save

As early as now, we are already teaching Keona how to save. It is said that the best thing to teach a child is when she is still young because their minds are blank tablets. They are easy to teach and whatever you teach them will be inculcated in their minds right away.

Being an only child and first grandchild in my hubby's side, she has the tendency to become spoiled specially with grandpa. Grandpa gives her whatever she wants but I balance it with teaching her the right values as early as now. I would tell her that she can't have everything she wants because I don't want her to grow up bratty.

Going back to savings, Keona loves to put on coins on her piggy bank. She would ask grannies for coins or sometimes from me and hubby. Mom told us to deposit her money from her piggy bank to the bank because there's a kiddie savings account in Metrobank where grandma used to work. We opened her piggy bank and grandma said she'll just add whatever Keona had saved so that it will reach to 500 pesos, the minimum amount required for the kiddie savings.

Jollibee is Kid's Favorite

Jollibee surely captured the heart of the kids. Their TV commercial is very powerful that a lot of kids really wanted to dine at this popular food chain. They are wise enough to target kids in their ads because really, when it comes to malling or deciding where to eat, the kiddos become the boss. So where ever they want to dine, their wants are the ones being followed.

Today, we don't have work because it's declared a holiday. We went malling and little girl once again enjoyed the rides in the mall. While she was riding a makeshift mickey mouse in the kid's play area, she just suddenly shout "Jollibee, I want that Jollibee!". She then cried and shouted so loud looking at the kid in our side. I then look at the direction where she was facing and I saw the kid holding and hugging tight her Jollibee stuffed toy. That's when I realized why she went wild. She wants to take hold of Jollibee.

Hubby and me decided to buy her one. Hubby told me to ask the mother where they bought that Jollibee stuffed toy who was busy taking pictures of her kid. She told it can be bought at the Jollibee food counter. We right away went upstairs to buy one. The price is 290 pesos but we should buy first any Jollibee meals to be able to buy that stuffed toy.

Whoaaa! It was really never in our plan and budget to buy that stuffed toy but bought it for we know it will make Keona really happy. Every time we go to Jollibee and dine, she always hug that big, life-size statue of Jollibee. Now that she has the stuffed toy, she can hug it anytime she wants.

Keona Fell on the Floor

Yesterday afternoon, when Keona was asleep, I left her on bed while I had my afternoon snack in the living room watching TV at the same time. I heard a bang on the floor and I hurriedly went to our room. Keona crying so loud on the floor. She fell on the floor! I did not expect her to fall because we usually leave her alone in the bed.

When she calmed down after crying so hard, we ask her if she's feeling something painful in her body. She said none. We presume that she's just okay. But I really felt guilty. I should have taken my afternoon snacks in our room!

My Happiness

These two people are my source of happiness, literally. I love to see them playing together, teasing each other. Most of the time they click together because hubby gives little girl time to play and let her toys like rubber duckie and green turtle float on her bathing water. Simple stuff, real happiness.

Social Little Fellow

Little Keona has grown from a shy timid baby into a very sociable toddler. When somebody gets her before, she would right away cling to me and hug me tight, refusing to go to someone whom she considers a stranger. She even doesn't like to be carried by her godmother or godfather who happen to be my office mates as well.

But nowadays, she is really sociable. She says "hi" and "hellos" to anybody she meets - to the saleslady in the mall, to the teller in the bank, to the queuing students in the restaurant, to the security guards in any establishment she's at. She says hi and waves goodbye. Yes, I'm glad that as young as she is, she can already express what she wants and does not mind meeting and mingling with people, old and young alike. Like Mother, Like Daughter

Keona and me watched TV last night and she wants to wear my eyeglasses. Hubby got out of our room and when he returned, he brought with him an eyeglass. I asked him if it's has a grade or something correctional because it might ruin Keona's vision if she wears it but he told me that it was just for fashion and he used to wear it way back in college, when he was still very slim.

Keona got it right away and wore it. Hubby got the camera and took a picture of us. Yeah, we were having fun. Lil girl looked serious wearing that eyeglass. Here's our photo:

Future Nurse or Doctor?

Lil girl plays a lot lately. She loves to toss the ball and chase it. When she's in the room, she would line up her stuffed toys. She would make them her patients and give them medicine or vitamins using her droppers. We are really amused looking at her. She would say "1.5 vitamins" and feed it to the toy she wants. She knows her vitamins dosage!
