A simple celebration for our 2nd wedding anniversary

Me, few minutes before our wedding

Today is our wedding anniversary. We attended a Holy mass at Sta. Ana Shrine Parish where we held our wedding 2 years ago. We decided not to bring Keona with us because we know we can't concentrate if she's with us. We'll be occupied with walking, running and she'll be shouting inside the church which we have experienced before. After the mass, we went to Gaisano mall to have dinner. We decided to eat at Dimsum because there were only few people. We don't like to eat in crowded places, it will take forever for us to be served. I jokingly told hubby that our marriage is not yet tested with time but he refuted that even if it's only 2 years, we have hurdled a lot of "storms" in our lives together which I readily agree:)).

Our marriage is not a bed of roses but we always try to work it out together, to be always committed with each other.

Christmas Noche Buena

How's your Christmas celebration? We celebrated Christmas without firecrackers for it is prohibited here in Davao City. To make some noise on the Christmas eve, Pappa rented a videoke and we sing our hearts out:). I really am not fond of singing.hehe.I'm afraid the rain will pour down if I sing :). It was the house helps who were like making a concert of themselves and sing until around 3 o'clock in the morning. They just lowered the volume so as not to disturbed the neighbors. We also use toy horn (locally known as torotot). What's on our table? Yummy lechon (roasted pig), spaghetti, mango float, pineapple bars, ice cream....It is the time that I really indulge:), not minding of the fats.

On Christmas caroling and carolers

Since it's Christmas season there are so many children who are doing their caroling in our house . They are so many that, if we don't prepare for coins, we'll run out of something to give to them. The funny thing is, their lyrics are far from the correct one:).

Joy to the world, the Lord is come. Let ever see, ber see....

Mom gets irritated with it but I find it cute.hehehe. I can relate to it because me and my cousins used to do caroling when we were also young. And we didn't care about the lyrics.LOL. As long as it sounds the same. Hubby is very strict to the carolers. He wants them to sing 2 or 3 songs before he gives them coins because when he was young, he used to sing 2-3 songs in every house.

For me, as long as they sing it from their heart, it's OK. I like the simplicity and the innocence of the carolers. Merry Christmas everyone!

I love Christmas vacation!

Today starts our Christmas vacation. Yipeeee! I'm savoring this moment. No work. No rushing in the morning. No setting of time in the alarm clock. No seeing of Keona's sad face (sometimes crying face) when me and hubby bid her goodbye for work.

I love Christmas vacation. Time to stroll around in the neighborhood. Me and hubby together with Keona can have an afternoon walk. We have all the time we can spend the way we want it. And I can laze around just like Sundays:). Four more days to go and it's gonna be Christmas time. Done with the groceries and shopping with gifts. Merry Christmas everyone:)

All dressed up for Christmas

Mom has been very busy putting up Christmas decors at home lately. She had a tree and put on the lights in front of the house. Keona, being very curious, kept on getting the Christmas balls in the tree. And she wants to get outside of the house to see the beautiful lights in the neighborhood!

Keona gets the boxes below the tree

Here she is, touching the decors of the tree

She always says "ganda" (beautiful) of these lights in our door

Keona loves to see these lights in the neighborhood

Scrapbook # 4- When me and hubby was still dating

Advent recollection for me and hubby

Advent is a time when we Catholics prepare for the coming of Jesus in Christmas. As I have mentioned in my previous post, me and hubby attended a recollection. It is intended for evaluating ourselves in a spiritual manner. As Socrates have said, "an unexamined life is not worth living". So that recollection is like examining ourselves. It's also a good time for us to bond spiritually.

A lot of things we have learned from our facilitator Fr. Jose Mari Esquadro:

  • we should let go of our past hurts and we should not allow it to hamper us from growing.
  • we can be likened to a well. in the surface is a very clean water but beneath the water, there's dirt and mud in it. but if we go beyond the water, there is that spring which gives life to the well. as a person, we should not dwell on our woundedness.
  • we can be likened to a mustard seed. the question is..have far have we grown? do we bear fruits?

Happy birthday Mama Alice:)

(This is a scheduled post, me and hubby are scheduled for an advent recollection today)
Today is Mama Alice's birthday. She's celebrating her birthday in the province where she is based together with my three unmarried siblings. She invited me and she told me that she's having a lechon (roasted pig) but I can't make it due to my scheduled recollection and besides, it's too far away. I love my mother very much. She married at the young age of 23 to my father who was turning 40. They have a wonderful marriage. But Papa died at age 69, few years after his forced retirement at 65. Since then, she doubled her efforts in order to meet the needs of her family, sending my two siblings to college and the youngest, high school. She works from Monday to Friday as a clerk, checked on the rice farm on Saturdays and sell groceries and ready to wear (RTW) goodies on Sundays. I admire her courage and strength and I'm really proud of her. Happy birthday Mom. I hope and pray for more birthdays to come, good health always and more blessings!

Identifying colors through ref magnets

Keona loves to walking around the house by holding just one of my hands and whenever she passes by the refrigerator, she stops, and rearrange the different magnetic fruits in its door. And she identifies their colors. She points to the particular fruit corresponding to the color I asked her. Her favorite color? Green and blue! And she's learning fast. Thanks to Mom who acts as her tutor whenever me and hubby are at work during the day.

Super behave Keona

I have been busy lately. Aside from hosting a seminar in our work, Mom was hospitalized because she had a bad fall from our roof gutter to the ground. And Keona was surpisingly behaving at the time when neighbors went home to help Mom and when rescuers from 911 went home. She understands that Mom was in pain. She would even caress and touch Mom's arms that has many bruises. I'm really happy and kinda surprise of the behavior that Keona's is showing lately. She's becoming mature and she understands what's going on with the people around her.

HPS#3 - Working date with hubby

It's a beautiful Sunday. Hubby and me have long planned in going to our own house in Mintal to do some cleaning. With Keona's surgical operation, firing and hiring of babysitter and juggling work, we have not visited there for a long time now. There's a thick cloud in the sky outside which is a hint of a coming rain but Mom said it's gonna be in the late afternoon. We don't go there if there's a rain because we do weeding out of grass outside. Then hubby remembered that it's Manny Pacquiao's boxing fight and he had second thoughts of going to Mintal. But Mom said we can still see it because we have TV there anyways. Though it's a little delayed for it's not pay-per -view. So we push through with our plan of going to our house. We arrived there at around 11:00 o'clock in the morning. We just ordered beef soup and rice at Garrido's for our lunch.

There's a piece of paper at the fence and when I look at it, it's a water bill. Not that big because nobody lives in there so I won't pay it yet. I miss our house. It was not as dirty and as grassy as I have expected because there's not much rain for the past months. But a little more dusty inside and I notice a lot of cobwebs. I started pulling off the grasses in front, while hubby worked on the left side. When I was about half finished of the area, the rain poured down so we had to stop. While working outside the house, we were monitoring the boxing fights. We continued our work when the rain stopped and while the under cards are the ones playing. When the main event started, we stopped doing our work which was almost finished by that time and we were glued on the TV until it was finished. Nice fight. We went back home at around 5:00 in the afternoon to catch up Keona's antibiotic schedule which was 6:30 in the evening.

It's Payday

Yeheeyyy! It's payday today. Time to pay the bills and do some groceries. Due to the high prices of commodities these days, I see to it that I have a list on what I have to buy whenever I go to the mall. I only buy what I needed and just save on for the things that I want but not really my priorities. What's on my list? Here it is...

  • Nan HW 3 milk for Keona
  • Cetaphil Shampoo - for Keona
  • Bath Soap - any brand with a low price as long as it smells good.hehe
  • Biscuits - for Keona, me and hubby. We used to buy junk foods but when me and hubby heard (from Keona's nephrologist - kidney disease specialist) about how pricey it is to have a kidney transplant, we told each other to really take care of our "filters". So no more junkfoods and too salty foods.
  • Shampoo - hubby wants Gard because of some flakes.
  • Pork - ribs and tenderloin, veggies, spices, condiments
  • Fruits
  • Aqua soft solution - for my contact lens

Happy birthday pappa!

Today is hubby's birthday. Momma have made already her fruit salad and we'll just gonna order foods for dinner later to have a simple birthday celebration. Here are the things I love about Pappa.

  • He's patient. He is very patient about me, especially when I'm not in the mood.LOL
  • He gives in right away with my requests, may it be request to buy forgotten grocery items, anything...
  • He wakes up to change Keona's diapers during the night
  • He loves to eat - and that makes me eat a lot too. Why I liked it? Because I'm striving to gain some more weight.hehe. But Pappa, you should not eat too much, Okay? LOL

Happy birthday pappa and I love you very much! I may not be very expressive....and sorry for my tantrums sometimes...LOL. I'll strive to be the best...

P.S. I have a gift for you...surprise! I'll just give it to you when I get home.
