December Fever

Hi folks, how's your December? Few days from now and it's gonna be already Christmas. We have a lot of activities lined up in the coming days. We'll have an institutional party on the 17th and thankfully, that would be the end of work for this year and it's gonna be a Christmas vacation already.

December 17 is also the last day of my school for the first term. I want to finish all my requirements before I go vacation so that I don't have to deal with it once I'll go back.

We are scheduled to have a party also on the 18th and it's gonna be a beach party. We'll bring with us our little Keona. She is already very excited and been talking about it most of the time:).

Happy Sunday

It's a beautiful Sunday and I love Sundays. I just stayed home in the morning cleaning and playing with little girl Keona. In the afternoon, Keona did not sleep so we went to the church to attend mass at 4 pm. Keona can't really stay put inside the church. She plays in the kneeler and she plays MIL's bracelets.

I can't let her be with hubby for a long time because she might get the colds that hubby has. The best part when going to a Sunday afternoon mass is the snack.LOLz. We had our snacks again at Jollibee and little Keona did not even tasted the hamburger bought for her because she prefers her fave French fries.

Happy Start of the Week

It's a beautiful Monday and I'm back to work again. I don't feel very good today. My pharyngitis is getting worse so I'm taking antibiotics now. Good thing I don't have to talk a lot anymore at work because I finished the orientation last week. Have a great day friends:)

Remembering my beloved father

This is the month that I was very down. That was probably one of the lowest moments in my life. The pain of receiving a news that someone who is a major part of my life is gone....forever.

But on the other side of the coin, the thought of having him finally rest is also a relief. To be able to see him get rid of the daily sacrifice of breathlessness. That was four years ago. When my father passed away due to emphysema.

We remember him this month in prayer. To my Papa, you'll forever be a part of my life and the values you inculcated to us will live forever. We love you and I hope you rest in peace.

Happy St. Peter's Feast

Today is the feast of St. Peter. It is one of the days that I look forward in year. Not because of the many foods because there's hardly any:), but because my company celebrates it so it means no work for us. Happy Tuesday friends and Happy fiesta for those who celebrate St. Peter's feast:).

Good Friday Practice

I told hubby that I'll fast my blogging today because it's good Friday (that means no blogging on Good Friday,hehe) and I can't do fasting when it comes to food because I still breastfeed my 17-month old baby but I'm breaking my promise to him.

My baby is now asleep so I take the time to blog or else I'll be blogging while breastfeeding tomorrow.haha.That's hard to do, huh!Anyways, I'm good when it comes to multitasking.hehe

We woke up this morning a little earlier than usual because it is our practice that during Good Friday, we'll go to the church and have our station of the cross. We planned to visit 7 churches and since there are 14 stations of the cross, we'll have to pray 2 stations every church. St. Joseph the Worker Parish was the first church we visited. The sun was very hot at around 11 o'clock in the morning so it was a real relief when we entered the air-conditioned St. Joseph church. When we finished the 2 stations, Mom suggested that we'll just finish all the 14 stations in St. Joseph because it's comfortable for our little girl Keona and when we visit the remaining 6 churches, we'll just have our individual prayer. Just when we finished the 14 stations, the reflection for the 7 last words also started. We then proceeded to Carmelite Church, Redemptorist Church, Assumption church, St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, Sta, Ana Shrine Parish and our last stop was Sacred heart church.

We were finished at around 1:30 in the afternoon and I was already very hungry. I just munch some biscuits that I brought with me and drink lots of water. Oh I love the fact that it was very easy and fast for us to go from one church to another because there's no traffic. It's a holiday and the only open establishment are the fast-food chains McDonald's and Chowking. We had our lunch at Chowking and all the food we ordered have no meat. I really don't like much the taste of the one hubby ordered for me - Chinese fish with tofu but finished it all because I was really hungry.

This is a rather late post. Mica's baptismal Christening was on Sunday, February 21, 2010. I had a crazy schedule this week so it's just now that I'm gonna post this. Our day started with a hearty breakfast last Sunday. After that, we right away took our bath and get ready to go to the church. We woke up late becasue it was Sunday. At around 10:30 in the morning, we headed to Sta. Ana church, in time for the 11:00 o'clock schedule for Mica's baptism. When we arrived at the church, we were surpised by the many people inside the church and the many babies to be baptized. So, this is not just a favorite church for people to wed but also for their children to be baptized, we thought. My little girl Keona is really becoming mature and more behave this time. She just behave while the ceremony is going on. There were times that she wanted to play and get the baloons of other babies but I told her to just play when the ceremony is over and she did it so I was very happy.

Last Friday, hubby returned home looking tired and somewhat problematic. You know, as a wife I have a way of knowing if hubby doesn't feel good or if there's something that's bothering him. So I asked him, " how was your day at work?". 'It's OK,"he answered then go on and smiled telling me "I'm really unfortunate today". So I queried why? He then showed me his pants in which the lower portion has this smelly wet mud and his shoe foot bed was broken.

He was in a queue waiting for his turn to withdraw cash at an automatic teller machine along Bolton Street. The place is dark at 7 in the evening. When he was about to get inside the booth, he accidentally fall into an open manhole. His right leg was soak in that smelly wet mud inside the manhole. He really pitied himself for what happened to him on that day. So I consoled him and assured him it's OK. We'll just buy a new shoes:). The following day, we went to SM Mall and bought a new pair of his office shoes.

Today is our wedding anniversary. We attended a Holy mass at Sta. Ana Shrine Parish where we held our wedding 2 years ago. We decided not to bring Keona with us because we know we can't concentrate if she's with us. We'll be occupied with walking, running and she'll be shouting inside the church which we have experienced before. After the mass, we went to Gaisano mall to have dinner. We decided to eat at Dimsum because there were only few people. We don't like to eat in crowded places, it will take forever for us to be served. I jokingly told hubby that our marriage is not yet tested with time but he refuted that even if it's only 2 years, we have hurdled a lot of "storms" in our lives together which I readily agree:)).

Our marriage is not a bed of roses but we always try to work it out together, to be always committed with each other.

I love Christmas vacation!

Today starts our Christmas vacation. Yipeeee! I'm savoring this moment. No work. No rushing in the morning. No setting of time in the alarm clock. No seeing of Keona's sad face (sometimes crying face) when me and hubby bid her goodbye for work.

I love Christmas vacation. Time to stroll around in the neighborhood. Me and hubby together with Keona can have an afternoon walk. We have all the time we can spend the way we want it. And I can laze around just like Sundays:). Four more days to go and it's gonna be Christmas time. Done with the groceries and shopping with gifts. Merry Christmas everyone:)

Advent recollection for me and hubby

Advent is a time when we Catholics prepare for the coming of Jesus in Christmas. As I have mentioned in my previous post, me and hubby attended a recollection. It is intended for evaluating ourselves in a spiritual manner. As Socrates have said, "an unexamined life is not worth living". So that recollection is like examining ourselves. It's also a good time for us to bond spiritually.

A lot of things we have learned from our facilitator Fr. Jose Mari Esquadro:

• we should let go of our past hurts and we should not allow it to hamper us from growing.
• we can be likened to a well. in the surface is a very clean water but beneath the water, there's dirt and mud in it. but if we go beyond the water, there is that spring which gives life to the well. as a person, we should not dwell on our woundedness.
• we can be likened to a mustard seed. the question is..have far have we grown? do we bear fruits?

Do you believe in the communion of saints?

Do you believe that our dear departed loved ones also pray for us?

Why do we have to visit to the tombs of our dead loved ones, light a candle, offer flowers and prayers?

During All Souls Day, the priest in our town in the province would hold a mass in the chapel near the cemetery. There, a lot of people who would visit their departed loved ones would join in an early morning mass.

It's his sermon that I can't forget. It gives me an understanding of that portion of "The Apostle's creed Prayer" which says ""I believe. . . the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints". According to him, there is a spiritual union on all Christians living and dead, on earth, those in heaven, and in Catholic belief, those in purgatory. We, who are still living on earth are called the pilgrim church. Those who are in the purgatory are called the suffering church, needing our fervent prayers. And those already in heaven, the thriumphant church.

In Catholic terminology, the Communion of Saints is thus said to comprise the Church Militant (those alive on earth), the Church Penitent (those undergoing purification in Purgatory in preparation for heaven), and the Church Triumphant (those already in heaven).


I now understand why we offer prayers for our departed during Holy Eucharist in the catholic church.


This All souls Day, I can't go home to the province. I need to take care of baby Keona. So, I'll just offer prayers at home. Happy Holidays everyone!

HPS#2 Walking most of the time

Sunday is the only day that we can devote our time to our little girl Keona. So I really make it a point to bond with her during this day. Early in the morning, even if I would have wanted to extend time in the bed, I heard her say "Pappa, Momma, baba". She's already awake and she wants to go down! When she says "baba", that means she want to go down to the floor and walk while holding my hands.

She's can't balance yet and can't stand on her own and this is her way of learning. We spend most of the time walking around the house on a lovely Sunday. Ifever I'm really tired, I would play her nursery rhymes CD because this will make her get glued on TV and it gives me time to rest. Have a great Sunday friends!
